چکیده

Lease contracts are a powerful and general abstraction for negotiating and arbitrating control of shared networked resources. This paper addresses failure handling and recovery for leasing protocols and services. We present the design and implementation of a robust cooperative leasing service and illustrate its use for managing shared virtual clusters. The state update model is based on interacting recoverable state machines, an alternative to distributed transactions in which each participant recovers from a local log and then completes a selfsynchronization protocol with other participants to restore each lease to a globally consistent state. We explore the impact of hidden component dependencies in virtual infrastructure, and the role of the leasing core in responding to failures involving plug-in extensions: policy modules and configuration handlers for hosted services and resource components.

Beyond Virtual Data Centers: Toward an Open Resource Control Architecture∗

This paper summarizes recent research on networked virtual computing in the NICL lab at Duke. Over the past few years, we have constructed a service-oriented substrate for networked sharing and adaptive middleware environments based on a virtual on-demand computing. The goal of the project is to develop protocols and tools that can link together virtual computing clusters at different sites, an...

Designing a new robust control for virtual inertia control in the microgrid with regard to virtual damping

Background and Objectives: Virtual inertia control, as a component of a virtual synchronous generator, is used for the implementation of synchronous generator behaviour in microgrids. In microgrids that include high-capacity distributed generation resources, in addition to virtual inertia, virtual damping can also lead to improvement of frequency stability of the microgrid. The purpose of the c...

The Role of leasing In Iran\'s Credit System

Advances in leasing industry as a means of finance mainly started in 1900 though leasing dates back to centuries ago. Despite its differences in different countries as a result of differences in laws and regulations, finance function has been a common distinctive function of leasing all over the world. Leasing has its modern and unique features and advantages to establish itself as one of t...

Energy management of virtual power plant to participate in the electricity market using robust optimization

Virtual power plant (VPP) can be studied to investigate how energy is purchased or sold in the presence of electricity market price uncertainty. The VPP uses different intermittent distributed sources such as wind turbine, flexible loads, and locational marginal prices (LMPs) in order to obtain profit. VPP should propose bidding/offering curves to buy/sell from/to day-ahead market. In this pape...

Infrastructure Leasing Problems

Consider the following Steiner Tree leasing problem. Given a graph G = (V, E) with root r, and a sequence of terminal sets Dt ⊆ V for each day t ∈ [T ]. A feasible solution to the problem is a set of edges Et for each t connecting Dt to r. Instead of obtaining edges for a single day at a time, or for infinitely long (both of which give Steiner tree problems), we lease edges for say, { a day, a ...
